Community Arts Apprenticeships – West Midlands Pilot

The modern education system is changing and wheels are already in motion to diversify the face of teaching and learning, but what does this mean for us as Community Arts Organisations? Creative Alliance invites you to join us as Arts employers to discuss and explore this further.

With the introduction of the Creative & Media Diploma and the Creative Apprenticeship, for the first time our industries are being recognised not only as valid career pathways, but also vehicles of engagement. Through our work we often develop key employability skills such as team working, creative thinking, time management, negotiation, networking and communication. But in order to sustain ourselves we need to both grow and retain these skilled employees.

The aim of the Apprenticeship programme is to help employers within the sector to become more productive, innovative and competitive by boosting skills levels within the sector. Apprenticeships are designed with business, for business by Sector Skills Councils representatives from the relevant sector or industry. They decide on the course content within their own sector meaning that they are developed by people who genuinely understand what you do and your business needs, this means Apprenticeships offer relevant, recognised qualifications. By combining this with on-the-job training a bespoke learning experience is created offering the trainee invaluable work experience and skills whilst at the same time providing the employer the opportunity to shape and mould their employee to their specifications, building their productivity and capacity in a cost efficient way.

The Creative Apprenticeship will be targeted at existing and new staff; as there will be those individuals who want to expand their Creative skills and knowledge, as well as those wanting to access Creative Industries for the first time. They will gain valuable experience working directly with you and a training provider, whilst studying for a Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Creative and Cultural Practice.

Please join us on Wednesday 17th September at The Studio, Cannon Street from 2pm to explore apprenticeships within the Community Arts sector further.

Learning & Skills Council and Creative & Cultural Skills representatives will be on hand to answer any questions and Creative Alliance will share its research and suggested delivery models for exploration and discussion. This is your opportunity to explore the viability of this training in your sector and look at cost and delivery implications.

In order to arrange refreshments we would greatly appreciate your RSVP as soon as possible.
