Kate opened The Bead Shop in May 2009. When asked why she chose a bead shop she replied, “it is a unique business with no other bead shop located not only in The Custard Factory but in the city centre”. Kate decided to open her business in The Custard Factory as it is a good funky area with a lot of passing trade.
Since she works as an individual, Kate makes and designs her own jewellery using the beads she has at her shop, these are for sale as well as individual beads and rope, string, clips etc. She claims to have an increase of customers every day which means the business is growing due to popularity.
We asked Kate what plans she has for the future regarding her business, she replied she would like to expand her business, but stay located at The Custard Factory since it is easy to maintain. This is, of course, if the shop continues to be successful.
