Apprentice Case Study

Michael Bound – 22

Start date if Apprenticeship – October 2010

Apprenticeship Pathway – NVQ Level 2 Design

To gain an NVQ in Design Michael Bound has been apprenticing with StreetPrint since October. As a Birmingham based company they delve into the complete range of print and design. Michael discovered the apprenticeships scheme through word of mouth and the internet at the National Apprenticeships Service. Before becoming an apprentice Michael had a small role in the creative sector, he worked as a production assistant and undertook other odd design jobs. His motivation for becoming a part of the apprenticeship project was to gain valuable experience and find a route into the industry he was most interested in.

“They give people an opportunity to prove their skills to employers.”

Professional expectations and the responsibility of working in a team are just a few of the things Michael has learnt since starting his apprenticeship. Everything Michael takes on adding to his new found industry knowledge, which will help hiim to further his creative career. Michael would definitely recommend the Creative Apprenticeship Scheme to other creatives as a vital step in their journey.

“They would be good for anyone who wants to get a foothold in an industry they wish to work in.”
