Identity was an 8 week project working with 50 young people from the West Midlands, who worked with creative professionals to teach them new skills in film production, film making and editing so they can explore the concept of misunderstanding or misrepresentations by looking at different perspectives of how young people are viewed by society.
The project was delivered by professional film maker Chris Keenan, Illustrator and Youth Worker Simon Randall, and 3 Creative Alliance Creative Apprentices Daniel Newell, Daniel Harris and Ken Saviour. During the duration of the project the young people had to work together to generate and develop ideas using identity as a starting point, taking into consideration existing stereotypes of young people held by society.
The young people then filmed, directed, produced and edited a series of short documentaries. The final documentaries were screened at The Electric Cinema Birmingham.
Our filmmakers are now capable of producing their own productions from scratch to screening using techniques that have been passed down through the ages of film and cinema. Experiencing the roles of directors, producers and authors we are confident that our filmmakers will grow with the levels of potential they have brought to this project.
