Jan Teo of Deutsche Bank discusses “The strength of true diversity”

42 days ago by John Bell

Following the much acclaimed events with Siôn Simon and design guru Michael Wolff, Fierce Earth and Creative Alliance are pleased to invite you to the latest in our series of discussions and debates around leadership and power.

This event also seeks to introduce the themes and concepts that have inspired Telling a Different Story, a training course starting in January 2012. As leaders in the creative and cultural industry, getting the most from your team and empowering your team to be as flexible and innovative as possible is becoming crucial to sustainability.  Spending time getting the right knowledge and skills to lead a diverse team can create a vital lifeline for your business.

For this event we are delighted to welcome Jan Teo, a director at Deutsche Bank and Chief Operating Officer for service centres in Europe.  Jan will draw on her extensive experience of leadership within blue-chip organisations to share the challenges and delights of encouraging the broadest range of talent to work across teams and sectors.  In a global marketplace, businesses now see the value of mirroring its client base and drawing talent that reflects that base.

Does that really happen in the creative and cultural sector?  We invite you, as business leaders and owners, to discuss and reflect on the tendency for smaller organisations to recruit teams that are “like their leaders” and to think about diversity in its widest sense – not simply cultural or racial – but also diversity of strengths, talents, opinions, beliefs and outlooks. Jan will advocate the power of a diverse team of staff and stakeholders as a way to achieve better and more creative business results.
