Having trained as a drama teacher, I left staff rooms after a couple of years.  I retained the languages of Drama and Learning that I had developed whilst at Birmingham City University and then found I had a whole new set of languages I needed to learn.  I moved into arts management, firstly as the Manager of the Theatre in Health Education Trust, and became fluent in Health and Social Care speech.  After five years I became a Community Arts Development Officer in Walsall and learnt the languages of Community Arts Practice and Local Government.

In 1995 I moved to Jubilee Arts, now The Public, as a Project Director.  I oversaw the development of a number of programmes of work, especially connected with Creative Learning.  In that time I added Regeneration, European Funding, Organisational Development and Change Management into my portfolio of languages and translation services.

Since 2004 I have run my own creativity and learning consultancy supporting learning providers, creative organisations and individuals. I have become fluent in the languages of School Improvement, Business Development and Learning to Learn along with many others. Having lived and worked in the West Midlands for nearly 25 years I am also fluent in a variety of local dialects.

Being director of Creative Alliance creates a unique opportunity to bring all these languages together into one role, with one purpose: to enable the development of the region’s creative talent to the best of our ability
