What is a Team Leader?

Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship is for individuals who are looking for a career in leadership and management and want to take the first step into developing these skills and starting out in professional management. You will be aiming to support, manage and develop team members, manage projects. You will be building knowledge to enable you to start planning and monitoring workloads and resources, deliver operational plans, resolve problems and build relationships.

Leadership and project management roles can be from all sectors – the private, public or third sector – and all sizes of organisation. You will be someone who wants to take responsibility for managing a team or a specific project with success. You will be looking to develop the essential skills to support and challenge your team to drive success and build motivation. You will build a thorough knowledge of how to manage effective meetings, build relationships and develop key decision-making techniques to build trust and deliver results.

End point Assessment

Apprentices learn the skills they need on the job with the guidance of a development coach who is an expert from industry. You’ll finish your apprenticeship with a recognised qualification, valuable industry experience, money, and substantial opportunities for promotion.

1) Knowledge Test: This is a 60 minute multiple choice test that will cover the knowledge gained over the duration of the apprenticeship.

2) Competency based Interview: The apprentice will take part in an interview to discuss their portfolio and the knowledge skills and behaviours they have acquired over the course of their apprenticeship.

3) Portfolio of work: As part of the end point assessment the learner will need to develop a portfolio of your team leadership over the course of the 15 month training period.

4) Professional discussion: The learner will need to discuss their role as a Team Leader with the end point assessor and discuss their knowledge, skills and behaviours in relation to their role.
