Building Back: Embedding Young People in the Creative and Cultural Workforce

A seminar on the options available and how Government support schemes can help make this happen.

This seminar will be of interest if you want to:

• Build or maintain the diversity of your workforce

• Benefit from the talents and contributions of young people to your organisation

• Create opportunities and offer support to young people to develop a career

• Access government funds and subsidy to support you to do this

We will discuss the challenges facing young people starting their careers in creative employment, and focus on 3 specific programmes, backed with government funds, designed to support young people at different stages of readiness.

• The new fully funded Kickstart scheme for 16- 24s

• An update on Apprenticeships and key deadlines

• The redesigned Traineeships programme

• Other support available from the Local Authority

Through the seminar we will translate the details of these programmes into the context of our sector, consider how they can be made inclusive and accessible, and present options for employer involvement that can work for organisations of all sizes.

We’ll start with the voice and experience of a current apprentice and their employer to understand the mutual benefits and practical realities. Then we will hear from experts from Birmingham City Council, Birmingham Training Providers Network, Creative Alliance, Creative and Cultural Skills, Dept. for Work and Pensions and Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Economic Partnership (GBSLEP). We’ll invite participants to ask questions as we go and we’ll finish with practical steps about how to pursue these opportunities and opportunities to work collectively.
