Summary of the role:

The Production Assistant Apprentice will support all members of the Agency Producer and Post-Production teams across various audio and visual projects, including client and internal agency work across multiple platforms. This role will provide hands-on experience in the end-to-end production process while developing technical skills in motion graphics, video editing, and content delivery.

The role is structured alongside the Production Assistant Level 3 apprenticeship programme, providing an opportunity to learn industry-standard skills in a fast-paced creative environment.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Assist in setting up project folders, filing assets, and maintaining version and quality control.
  • Help generate purchase orders (POs), license music tracks, and manage stock footage.
  • Create and distribute call sheets, risk assessments, and production schedules.
  • Attend meetings, take minutes, and document clear action points for follow-up.
  • Contribute towards and write briefs inclusive of sourcing and collating assets for a variety of audio and visual projects.
  • Support the management of shoot and voiceover bookings, including locations, talent, and wardrobe within an assigned budget.
  • Manage the Production and Equipment Store, ensuring all equipment, props, and kit bags are accounted for.
  • Organise and log props, ensuring they are available for upcoming shoots.
  • Maintain an up-to-date talent and supplier bank, tracking rate cards and specialist contacts.
  • Attend shoots and voiceover sessions, often in a runner capacity, assisting with on-set tasks.
  • Assist with research on competitor trends and industry references. Sharing insights with team.
  • Maintain and update Production case studies, showcasing key projects.
  • Attend and contribute to creative brainstorming sessions when required
  • Support internal and client-facing projects using platforms such as, but not limited to, Adobe Premiere and After Effects, amongst other agency used software.
  • Maintain an understanding of video formats, codecs, frame rates, and aspect ratios.
  • Conduct basic editing and resizing of assets as required.
  • Work closely with editors, motion graphics artists, art directors, and producers.
  • Liaise with other departments as necessary to support project delivery.
  • Ensure excellent team relationships and contribute to collaborative projects.
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of clients and their requirements.
  • Act in the best interest of IMA and Smollan Group Companies at all times.

  • Proficiency in Mac/PC and familiarly with MS Office.
