Main Responsibilities

Our Research Assistant will develop knowledge and skills of research, database and project administration whilst bringing a young fresh perspective to the impact we can make across the creative sector. Your main responsibilities will include undertaking desk-based research, content creation and project, event and administration support.

Core Duties:

Some of your main day-to-day duties will involve: using desk-based research to source and gather research reports and data to feed into evidence gathering for our policy and research work as well as identifying initiatives, organisations and policies across the creative industries which are creating impact and change in areas which align with our policy priorities.

You will assist with content creation and support the design, management and analysis of our surveys and interviews as well as writing copy for reports, case studies and other outputs.

You will provide project, event and administration support including: arranging research interviews, focus groups workshops and surveys with our members and other stakeholders from across the creative industries, coordinating and supporting events and meetings, assisting with data collection and management, collating and organising policy and research summaries and reports into a library resource, as well as proof-reading and supporting with editing outputs.

General Duties:

Adhere to company processes, policies and procedures, particularly GDPR data protection legislation and health and safety best practices around social distancing.

Ensure compliance with all relevant funding conditions and reporting requirements

Act as a point of contact for external enquiries and communication

Work in a way which celebrates diversity in practice, programmes and projects and encourages best practice

Act as a positive advocate of the company at all times

Ensure that safeguarding and health & safety policies are observed and positively implemented

Carry out any other reasonable duties as required and agreed with your line manager

Requirements:

This opportunity is funded through DWP so applicants, therefore, must be in receipt of Universal Credit.

Skills required:

Interested in Research/Policy and Advocacy

Interested in kick starting a career in Research/Policy and Advocacy

Communication skills and desire to liaise with people over the phone and email

Interest in the UK Creative Industries

Ability to interpret and draw conclusions from reports, research findings and data

A willingness to learn

Strong communication skills

Good organisation skills with the ability to multitask

Basic level of experience in IT skills such as MSOffice and basic experience or a desire to support CRM database management.

Training to be provided:

You will receive mentoring and training from the Head of Research and policy team across research and policy practices. The People & Operations team will provide training across company systems, processes, how to store data. There will be opportunity to observe roundtable discussions and panels in relation to policy with a diverse group of key players across the UK creative industries. By the end of the placement you will have developed research skills, best practice and insights into how government policy is informed.

The company is digital first meaning developing knowledge and experience using Office365 e.g. outlook, data storage will be key. You will also be trained on GDPR and general business administration.

Creative Alliance will provide the Kickstart Placement with a mentor to provide ongoing support to effectively integrate them into the culture of the company and help them understand the professional standards we work to. They will receive external employability support from Creative Alliance who will help them produce a new CV and portfolio so they can compete for marketing positions after their six months on the Kickstart scheme.
