The Team Assistant will support all aspects of Highly Sprung’s operations. Working with our small administrative and marketing team in the office, as well as supporting our busy team of creative practitioners, working in schools, festivals and theatres, working with children and young people to deliver high-quality arts and educational experiences.


Main Responsibilities: The Team Assistant is a key part of our delivery team facilitating and delivering Highly Sprung’s creative projects.

The Team Assistant will be part of our administrative and marketing team as well as taking on the role of trainee artist with some experiences based in delivering dance/drama and physical theatre projects in schools and education settings and working alongside the team as part of production processes for touring performances or events.


Core Duties: To champion the work of Highly Sprung.

To work with Highly Sprung’s team and our associates effectively to contribute to the delivery of a valuable and relevant experience to those we work with.

Support in delivering effective monitoring and evaluation of Highly Sprung’s activities.

Help maintain general correspondence where required.

Supporting the management of databases, mailing lists and project reports.

Researching costs for project budgets.

Support in managing arrangements for tour bookings and events.

To contribute to the creation of content for emails/newsletters/mailouts.

Support in the delivery of Highly Sprung’s marketing plans, helping to deliver and create content to our digital platforms including our website and social media channels.

To assist in the delivery of high-quality sessions and workshops, appropriate to the needs and requirements of Highly Sprung, in collaboration with the Highly Sprung’s team, helping to facilitate creative approaches to the enhance the skills and understanding of physical performance in children and young people.

Ensure compliance with all relevant funding conditions and reporting requirements

Act as a point of contact for external enquiries and communication

Work in a way which celebrates diversity in practice, programmes and projects and encourages best practice

Ensure that safeguarding and health & safety policies are observed and positively implemented

Carry out any other reasonable duties as required and agreed with your line manager

Training to be provided:

We will ensure that training and skill development is central to the role of Team Assistant. The role will provide opportunities for training alongside current team members in all areas of the charity's operations. Office based training will be managed by Highly Sprung's administrator and Executive Director. Opportunities to develop and share content for social media will be provided through project focused activity working with our Marketing and Comms Assistant. The Team Assistant will also have the unique opportunity to work with our delivery team, Artistic Director and Associate Artists to develop skills for delivery in education and community settings, with training opportunities to understand the methodologies and processes used by Highly Sprung to provide inspiring projects for children and young people. Training will be very practical and will be provided through applied opportunities supported by our experienced team.

To undertake training, evaluation and reflection processes when necessary. This job description is not exhaustive, the Team Assistant may be required to undertake other duties from time to time. In consideration of COVID restrictions working from home is required. Any necessary IT equipment will be provided, a secure internet connection is required. There will be a requirement to travel to various locations for work, all reasonable travel expenses will be compensated, or travel provided. Work on Saturday mornings during school term time will be required.
Future prospects:
We would develop a partnership with Creative Alliance as training providers, providing training courses, employability and coaching to develop the young person's understanding of their new skills and deepening their 'on the job' experience through accredited courses. This would be delivered through Creative Alliance's Employability package of support for Kick Start employees. Monitoring of the Team Assistant's progress will take place through a system of appraisal and self-assessment. Within Highly Sprung we already implement a system of KPIs and personal objective settings as part of a six-monthly appraisal system. We will adapt these practices to support the six-month job role, implementing more regular opportunities to assess progress against specific personal and charity set objectives.
