#TalentWorking

Kickstart is a new initiative to support young people at risk of long term unemployment.

#TalentWorking

You may well have heard of the Kickstart scheme by now. If its new to you we summarise it below.

We have received over 30 Job Placement work pledges. If all these pledges turn into Application Forms and Job Descriptions by the first deadline of Friday October 30th, then we’ll be submitting the first Kickstart Gateway application on behalf of this consortium of employers on November 2nd.

If you want to be in this first consortium for January starts then submit your Application Form and Job Description(s) by 4.00pm Friday. Our Guidance Notes and Application Form is here.

If you miss this deadline, don’t worry. We’ll then start working on putting together the next consortium of 30 job placements and submitting an application on behalf of that second one.

Summary

Kickstart is a new initiative to support young people at risk of long term unemployment.

You create a six month job placement for a new role, recruit an unemployed young person from your local Job Centre Plus, and the government will pay their wages for six months. Wages will be paid at National Minimum Wage for the young person’s age for 26 hours / week. There is nothing to stop you topping up their wages with extra hours.

If you can create 30 or more of these roles straight away then you can apply directly to the Department of Work & Pensions.

If you can’t, then you’ll need to join a Gateway. Our Guidance Notes and Application Form is here
