Use your apprenticeship coaching experience to support the next generation of creative talent.

Creative Alliance is looking for an experienced Development Coach to support apprentices across a range of creative, digital, marketing, events and related apprenticeship programmes.

Your role is to coordinate the apprentice's overall learning journey: keeping them progressing, setting appropriate learning activity, conducting reviews, working with their employer, providing developmental feedback and making sure they are ready for successful completion. Where specialist occupational teaching or assessment is required, you will work alongside Creative Alliance's specialist tutors and industry professionals.

About us

Creative Alliance is an independent, not-for-profit social enterprise specialising in apprenticeships and work-based learning across the creative, digital and marketing industries. Based in Birmingham, we work with apprentices and employers across England and are passionate about creating fair and accessible pathways into creative careers.

What you will do

  • Manage an agreed caseload of apprentices from onboarding through to successful completion.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with apprentices, employers and workplace managers.
  • Conduct regular progress reviews and keep training plans and individual learning plans up to date.
  • Provide structured one-to-one coaching, mentoring and pastoral support.
  • Set assignments, workplace projects and developmental activities appropriate to the apprenticeship standard.
  • Review learner work and provide clear, constructive and timely feedback.
  • Set ambitious but achievable targets, follow up agreed actions and intervene early where progress is at risk.
  • Help apprentices build high-quality portfolios and prepare for Gateway, End-Point Assessment and successful completion.
  • Coordinate specialist teaching and technical support where this is needed.
  • Maintain accurate learner records using OneFile and Creative Alliance systems and support safeguarding, quality and compliance requirements.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who already understands apprenticeship delivery and learner management. You may currently be working as a Development Coach, Skills Coach, Apprenticeship Coach, Assessor or in a similar role.

You should have experience of:

  • Managing an apprenticeship caseload and supporting learners through their programme.
  • Conducting apprentice and employer progress reviews and maintaining training plans or ILPs.
  • Setting learning activities, assignments or workplace projects and providing developmental feedback.
  • Understanding apprenticeship standards, knowledge, skills and behaviours, off-the-job learning and EPA readiness.
  • Using OneFile or another apprenticeship e-portfolio or learner-management system.
  • Supporting learners pastorally, identifying barriers to progress and taking appropriate action.
  • Working effectively with employers and workplace managers to connect learning with the apprentice's job role.

Qualifications

An assessor qualification such as CAVA, TAQA, A1 or equivalent would be desirable. A coaching, mentoring, teaching or training qualification would also be beneficial. However, we will consider experienced apprenticeship practitioners who are willing to undertake any required qualification.

What we offer

  • £31,000 full-time equivalent, depending on experience.
  • Flexible and home-based working.
  • A high level of autonomy in managing your diary and caseload.
  • Employee Assistance Programme providing confidential wellbeing support.
  • Regular teaching, learning and assessment development and standardisation.
  • Opportunities to develop your coaching and assessment practice.
  • The opportunity to work across a diverse range of creative, cultural, digital and marketing organisations.
  • A collaborative delivery model where occupational specialists provide technical input when needed.

Interested?

If you are an experienced apprenticeship coach who enjoys building relationships, keeping learners moving forward and taking ownership of the whole apprenticeship journey, we would like to hear from you.

You do not need to arrive as a specialist in technical theatre, marketing, events, digital or every other area we deliver.
