LEVY

Levy funding updates

The Government in April 2026 made big changes to the Levy or (Skills and Growth Levy as its known now) and how you can use it and what additional costs there might be.

Here are the critical changes you need to be aware of.

The 10%

Previously, the government would top up any money into the apprenticeship levy by 10%. This has now been removed. A functional plan is key to making sure your organisation are not left short, we can help with this.

12 months

Any unused levy funds will now expire after 12 months, rather than 24 months as it was previously. We are currently working with our levy payers to develop a tailored strategy for the next 12 months meaning the organisation will get the most out of their levy.

Levy pot

Before these changes; previous rules meant when a levy pot ran out for an employer, the apprenticeship funding would fall into the rules that are set for SME’s (95% paid for by the government and 5% paid for by the Employer). This has now changed to 75% from the Government and 25% for the employer.
