We spoke with Jaiden about their Business Administrator Apprenticeship. Throughout their apprenticeship, they have developed crucial knowledge and skills, and like many going into a new industry or job, they have had to overcome some challenges. Emma, one of our Development coaches, supported them through this challenge, enabling them to achieve success.
I decided to do an apprenticeship as it gave me the opportunity to go straight into the world of work while earning a qualification, which has helped me establish my career’s foundations quite early on in my life. The apprenticeship has helped me understand the background of organisations a lot better which in turn has helped me with work as I can understand why I am doing certain things and why my role is important for the organization.
During my Apprenticeship, I had a lot of trouble with time management and managing expectations from others, whether that be my managers, colleagues or my development coach Emma when it came to submitting work.
Emma helped me a lot by implementing 1-2-1 sessions, as well as helping me be more assertive when asking to take a day out of my week to focus purely on apprenticeship work. This helped me get back on track as it was a clear plan on what exactly I had to do each session.
I would absolutely recommend an apprenticeship, especially for those who are unsure with what they would like to do with their future, for example going to University. I have recommended apprenticeships to my friends and a couple of them have started apprenticeships of their own!
