Overview

We sat down with Namywa and Diya from Girl Grind UK. Namywa founded Girl Grind UK a pioneering organization dedicated to empowering Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic women, girls, and gender-expanding individuals. Through targeted programs for different age groups, the organization provides crucial support and resources to help them break barriers and achieve their full potential. Committed to bold and radical action, Girl Grind UK drives a movement grounded in gender and racial equality, advocating for greater visibility and equality in the arts, health, and business sectors. Their work celebrates and uplifts inspirational individuals, creating a powerful force for change.

From the beginning, the organization has applied its core missions and values in recruitment, supporting aspiring professionals through apprenticeships in the creative, digital, and marketing industries. Diya exemplifies the success that driven individuals can achieve through an apprenticeship. With guidance and support from Namywa, Diya has now become the Director of Marketing and Communications, demonstrating the significant impact an apprenticeship can have on both the apprentice and the employer. Diya’s success isn’t only visible to Creative Alliance and Girl Grind UK, but early this year Diya was nominated for multiple awards including APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR, ARTS & CULTURE AWARD, INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR, MOST PROMISING RISING STAR IN EMPLOYMENT and STUDENT OF THE YEAR (Inspirational Youth Awards 2024).
