Eva recently participated in a Live Events Skills Bootcamp, driven by their interest in theatre and music events. They had always enjoyed attending live events and was curious about what happens behind the scenes. However, without any hands-on experience, they saw the bootcamp as the perfect opportunity to explore the live events industry.
The course is primarily delivered in person at a theatre (Midlands Art Centre), offering a highly practical, hands-on approach. Instead of traditional lessons or seminars, participants worked directly with equipment, learning by doing. This method allowed Eva to engage with the tools of the trade up close, making the experience more immersive. Our Development Coach, Tom, played a pivotal role in Eva’s learning. His deep knowledge of the industry, combined with valuable connections, enriched the experience. He brought in experts from different fields, enhancing the Skills Bootcamp’s content. Eva also appreciated the opportunity to visit different theatres and provided them with insight into how various venues operate.
Before the Skills Bootcamp, Eva had no formal experience in the industry, but by the end, feels confident enough to pursue an entry-level job. In just five weeks, their dream of working in live events has shifted from a distant idea to a tangible career path. The course not only equipped them with practical skills but also givin them a comprehensive understanding of the different departments and job prospects within the live events industry.
