Description:

Croydon Drop In (CDI) has been supporting children and young people across the London Borough of Croydon since 1978. We’re deeply embedded in local communities and each year we work with over 5,000 children, young people and families, providing life-changing support, advice and guidance.

We’re looking for a creative, organised and people-minded Content Creator Apprentice to help strengthen CDI’s digital engagement and content output. If you enjoy social media, storytelling and creating content that’s clear, youth-friendly and purposeful — and you want to build real experience in a supportive charity environment — we’d love to hear from you.

This is a development role with structured training and support, where you’ll learn how to create content safely and professionally, in line with safeguarding, confidentiality and CDI’s brand.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Creating engaging content for CDI’s digital channels (social posts, short-form video, stories/reels, simple graphics and website-ready copy)
  • Turning service information into clear, accessible content (e.g., “what to expect”, “how to get support”, myth-busting and signposting)
  • Supporting content packs for campaigns (exam stress, transitions, holidays, wellbeing themes, etc.)
  • Capturing and editing basic photo/video content (with guidance and in line with consent requirements)
  • Maintaining a simple content calendar to improve consistency and reduce last-minute requests
  • Coordinating content approvals with CDI leads to ensure accuracy, safeguarding alignment and the right tone
  • Supporting website updates and uploading resources (PDFs, posters, guides) with oversight
  • Tracking basic performance metrics and sharing simple monthly insights on what’s working and what to improve
  • Supporting digital engagement within clear boundaries (monitoring comments/messages and escalating safeguarding concerns appropriately)

What We’re Looking For

  • A strong interest in content creation and digital communication, especially youth-focused content
  • Clear written communication (friendly, accurate and easy to understand)
  • Confidence using social media platforms and basic digital tools
  • Good organisation and ability to follow processes (content calendar, approvals, file management)
  • A professional, empathetic approach aligned to CDI’s values
  • Willingness to learn, take feedback and develop quickly

Bonus (not essential):

  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Express, CapCut or similar tools
  • Basic photo/video editing skills
  • Awareness of accessibility in digital content (captions, readability, inclusive language)
  • Interest in youth work, mental health, community services or the charity sector
