Scenic Construction Technician

A Scenic Construction Technician Apprentice plays a vital role in bringing stage and screen productions to life by constructing the physical sets and scenic elements that form the backdrop of performances. Working closely with designers, carpenters, and production teams, apprentices learn to interpret technical drawings and translate creative concepts into tangible structures.

Throughout the apprenticeship, individuals gain hands-on experience with a variety of materials such as wood, metal, and fabric, and develop skills in carpentry, welding, and scenic painting. They are trained to use a range of tools and machinery safely and effectively, ensuring that all constructed elements meet the required specifications and safety standards. Apprentices also learn about the logistical aspects of set construction, including budgeting, scheduling, and collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless integration of scenic components.

By the end of the programme, apprentices are equipped with the technical proficiency and creative insight needed to contribute to the construction of compelling and functional sets for theatre, film, television, and live events.
